Pork Shop: Where you find pork chops for the non-muslim. If muslims knew how good pork chops taste like, this would be the grocery store equivalent of the apple tree in the garden of Eden.

And the whole development taken looking back from the shore, in full panorama glory. Sad thing is, most of these waterfront apartments are still missing tenants. With the current economic situation in Dubai, who knows if they’ll ever be any.


Even though we were working our asses off for 12 hours a day, marking off the days till the return date like soldiers in a trench looking at their girlfriend’s picture, we did have a day or two off, one of which was spent a the Jumeirah Beach park. Half park, half beach, people were bathing, picnicking, playing volleyball, taking it easy among friends and family members. As candid and homespun as middle-class can be.

From what I understood, if you’re an Emirati couple getting married in Dubai, you’ll likely be wrapping your house—The. Whole. Two-Storey. Concrete. Mansion.—with fairy lights to celebrate, causing it to glare exorbitantly in the desert night and putting Clark Griswold much to shame.
